Day 1: Cusco City Tour
We will be waiting your arrival to Cusco Airport.
Reception and transportation to the Hotel, will have the free morning to rest and also we suggest you have a light lunch in either your hotel or in one of the surrounded.
In the afternoon, we will depart on a City tour. We will visit the Main Cathedral (optional), the Qoricancha (temple of the sun) and we will make a route bordering archaeological centers like Sacsayhuaman, Q’enqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay. Our tour finishes around 18:30 hrs. approximately at the main square in order you can take dinner in one of the exquisite restaurants in the area.
Day 2: Humantay Lake
Our professional mountain guide will pick you up at your homestay, hostel or hotel between 4:20 to 4:40 hrs. You must tell our Travel Company where you are staying one day before departure and be ready and waiting for pickup.
Temperature during the first hours of our Humantay lake tour is cold ( 5 to 9°C ) that why you need to bring one extra warm sweater, jacket, hat and gloves. These will keep you comfortable during this driving time to Mollepata. After 2 hours driving we will arrive at Mollepata where we will stop for breakfast and get last things you forgot to buy in Cusco like water and snacks.
After breakfast there is 1 more hour by car to Soraypampa. Once we arrive at this high mountain plateau we will be able to see the beautiful mountains Apu Salkantay (6230 meters above sea level) and Humantay (5250 meters above sea level). After a short time to prepare and gather our daypacks, we start the 1-hour 45 minutes trek to Humantay Lake (about 3 km.) The way up to Humantay Lake is steep however our group is small and our guide will let you take your time to enjoy and arrive without pressure.
After enjoying our first view of Humantay Lake there is an optional small climb above the lake to the right or left where you can enjoy a panoramic view.
Next we have the easy part of our trek. We go downhill to Soraypampa for another hour. Then we will take our private transportation back to Mollepata where a local buffet lunch will be waiting for us. Once we finish lunch, we will go back to Cusco.
We will arrive at Cusco between 17:30 to 18:30 hrs.
Day 3: Cusco – Chinchero – Moray “Greenhouse”– Salt Mines of Maras – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes
In the morning, we pick you up from your hotel to start the trip; we drive to Chinchero is famous for its church with painted murals and its traditional market which is famous for their handmade textiles and weavings.
After visit Chinchero. We will visit Moray, the famous ‘greenhouse’ of Inka time, a scientific laboratory where you learn how the Incas were able to acclimatize their agricultural products to different climates.
We will continue to Maras Town, where we can see some ancient farming paths to the village on our way to Las Salineras, the salt mines that have existed since the Inka civilization. There are more than 3 thousands pools of salt!. Expect breathtaking panoramas of the mountains, dramatic views of the salt mines and unforgettable expanse of the incomparable Chinchero plateau.
After visiting the salt mines, and a spectacular descent into the Sacred Valley we will have a delicious lunch and continue to Ollantaytambo Archaeological site, one of the best-preserved towns of the Inkas. We learn of this amazing place and then board the train to Aguas Calientes. In Aguas Calientes, we will pick you up at train station and will go to your Hotel. Then you will have a delicious dinner and briefing for next day.
Day 4: Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
Early morning, you will have breakfast in the hotel, then you will take the bus up from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu, 30 min. approximately.
When you arrive at Machu Picchu, you will visit archaeological site 2 hours approximately with our tour guide in a group. He will explain about the history, construction and other important information about Machu Picchu.
After the tour is complete. You will have more time to spend in the Citadel, to explore and take pictures. Optionally you can book to climb Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Each has a beautiful and a different view of Machu Picchu.
When you feel your visit is complete you will go down by bus to Aguas Calientes. You can have a meal and enjoy the thermal baths.
Then you will take the train to Ollantaytambo and from Ollantaytambo you will go to Cusco by our bus.
Day 5: Cusco – Japura – Rainbow Mountain- Cusco
Early in the morning (about 4:30 am,) we will be at your hotel or hostel to pick you up. Please make sure you are ready and waiting in the lobby for our guide or driver who is going to look for you. After you aboard our transportation, we will drive to Japura where we will enjoy a delicious local breakfast and start our adventure to the famous Rainbow Mountain. There is 7 km of trekking. Uphill followed by 6 km over flat land that will take us to our goal called Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca Mountain which is located at 5100 meter about sea level where we will enjoy the spectacular panoramic views across the ancient valleys Ausangate. We will show you a good place to stop and enjoy the flight of the condor and see walk wild Llamas, Alpacas and Vicuñas .
After this, we will turn back on the same trail, this time it will be easier because most of the trail is easy sailing—downhill! Once we get back to Japura, we will have a lunch then we will take our transportation back to Cusco.
Arrive around 18:00 to 19:00 hours.
