Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Sun Gate – Aguas Calientes
Early at 4:00 am. the guide will pick up all passengers from their hotels with the van, then you will go to Ollantaytambo, where we take the train to 104 km (1 hour 20 minutes). When you arrive at 104 km, You and your guide will pass the checkpoint and get ready to start the trek; the first portion is climbing around 3 hours and a half to Wiñayhuayna. As we ascend, you will be able to take pictures of beautiful landscapes and views of the sacred Vilcanota River.
In the archeological site of Wiñaywayna, your tour guide will explain the history and function of this place. After, you will have time to relax and enjoy a delicious box lunch with amazing views. Later, you will continue along the classic Inca Trail to arrive at the Sun Gate(Inti Punku); from this place, you will have breathtaking and unforgettable views of Machu Picchu Citadel.
Then after enjoying the views, you will go down the trail for around 1 hour to Machu Picchu and enjoy the next part of the tour.
From Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes village you will take the bus for 30 minutes, and your guide will take you to your Hotel.
In the evening you will have a delicious dinner with the tour guide, who will explain to you about the second day.
DURING THE TREK:
Day 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
After breakfast at the hotel, you will go up to Machu Picchu by bus in the morning. In Machu Picchu, you will have 2 hours private introductory tour. In this time, you will learn about types of impressive constructions, the engineering and the terraces, the essential places in Machu Picchu Archaeological site, and how they were used.
Afterward, you will have free time to explore Machu Picchu, take pictures and explore more. If you booked climb to Huaynapicchu or Machu Picchu mountain, you would enjoy a dramatically different view of Machu Picchu Citadel.
You’ll return to Aguas Calientes by bus when you finish your visit. In the village, there are lots to discover. Shops, crafts, Art. Enjoy the hot springs, buy memories and try new foods.
Later you will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. (1 ¾ hours.) When you arrive at Ollantaytambo you will meet with your driver to come back by car to your Hotel in Cusco (1 ½ hours.)

The Inca Trail is worth it since it is the only tour that allows you to see Machu Picchu twice, one at sunset and the other at sunrise, unique experiences that you can live with this tour.
The tour is more expensive than other regular tours to Machu Picchu, but the permits, trains, and organization have to be fulfilled mandatory by the Government to enjoy this trek.
In terms of difficulty, the short Inca trail 2 days is a trek with moderate difficulty, and it is considered one of the easiest treks for beginners and people without incredible physical activity. However, it is recommended to have a good physical activity before the trek and a considerable age to do this trek successfully.
Unfortunately, Shot Inca Trail permits can’t be changed, transferable or refundable because of the Peruvian Government regulations that manage tickets and permits for this trek.
The Peruvian Government requests the original passport to get you in the shot Inca trail.

On the first day, the trek is about 7.4 Miles or 12 Km. it is divided into three portions. The first part is until the archeological site of Wiñaywayna with 6 km and then is to Sun Gate with 5 km and the last part where you can see Machu Picchu is about 1 km until the gate to go outside the citadel of Machu Picchu.
Yes, you can do it in two days with the Short Inca Trail, but if you think of doing the whole trek, you will need 4 days.
With the 4 days trek, you need to respect campsites, and you can’t pass to the next camp; this is for better control of people hiking on this trail.
